Lots of people use abuse to make horses submit. Not little slaps and smacks, but real hitting. But another way to teach a horse submit is exhaustion. Lounge your horse before you ride. Make her work and get the buck out of her. once she is breathing pretty hard, stop pushing her and see what she does. If she stops and faces you, she is submitting. If she turns away from you, wont slow down or tries to buck or kick, run some more and try again. I trained my hose this way, and it really works.

Er...That's really not the best idea...

Um, exhaustion the horse will learn nothing. And 'abusing' the horse is not the way to actually train or teach it to do something.

this has gotta be the good life ♥

Yep. Doing either of the two will just scare the horse more and make you regress even farther. It wont help at all. Theres beter ways of doing things.

Doing some of the parelli games would help. Pm if you want to know more.

This works ive done it: Try lunging her before you ride. But doing have her just go in the same direction. Constintly ask her to change direction so she has to focus on you. It will bring her adrenilen (sp) down. You need to interupt her paterns of her thinking like that. Do things to have her focus on you. Pm if you want I can go into more detail.

You have to get your horse to respect you on the ground before you can expect him to do anything under saddle. Work on leading for a while. Establish personal space, and let him know that when you're leading him ITS NOT PLAYTIME. A girl at our barn worked with her off the track thourobred for 6 months on leading before she started to seriously ride him. He couldn't even be led out of the barn before she started working with him.

Proud to wear my helmet. Proud Californian. Proud horse-lover.
Thanks Energizerpony!

if you need a calm horse, try giving her calming supplments. They contain fat so your horse can get a little slower.
