| I don’t know what type of saddle to get. I will be doing combined testing, but I can’t afford to get both a dressage and jumping saddle. So I don’t know if I should get a all purpose or just a jumping saddle. Please help me!!

| | hmm.. well what is your budget? you can get some pretty nice eventing saddles for about 650-800 but, i wouldnt get a dressage if you are also going to be doing jumping, but, to really progress in dressage, you'll need a proper dressage saddle, so i dont know, for though i would stick with a eventing saddle.. you may want to see about having a saddle fitter look at your horse also. because there will be saddle's that wont fit.
Dressage, its more then a sport, its a passion. Sabrina&Saber, the world's next Eventing stars.when you sit in the saddle, and it feels like nothing else matters then you know your ment to be a horseback rider.
if you've ever ridden in pajamas without shoe's, fallen off a horse, jumped over jump just because you wanted, and spent the entire day cleaning your horse for the horse show, then you can call yourself a real horseback rider.:)

| Get a close contact. You can still do basic dressage work in a CC. All purposes are no purpose.

| I'd get a close contact(jumping saddle) I love them so much, imo, they're more comfortable, but it is a preference kind of thing, as well as what diciplines you will be doing.

I'd get a close contact(jumping saddle) I love them so much, imo, they're more comfortable, but it is a preference kind of thing, as well as what diciplines you will be doing. ye, now that i think about it, close contacts are alot more comfortable plus, you can feel your horse better then a AP..(i have a VERY old passier cc) so if you get a cc, i would go with a old, passier,stubben or maybe a courbette or collegiate

| | I'd also recommend a CC, and then down the line, when you can afford it, a used dressage saddle. By then, maybe you can afford the second saddle, and until then, the CC will suffice. You can find great used saddles too! If you get an AP, you will eventually buy a CC and a dressage anyways, so it will make more financial sense to start with the CC and just need one saddle in the future, than to go with an AP now and need two saddles in the future. I just got a collegiate finalist CC ($800) and really like it. So does my instructor.

Barnsby's are AMAZING saddles, you should look at some used ones on ebay or something. And I'm just wondering, why do you do Combined Testing and not eventing?

The reason why I do combined testing is because at my old barn they didn't have a cross country course and Shiloh got hyper while doing cross country and they didn't start trailering to courses until I moved. =(
