Okay so I went out and tied Cami up and messed with her a bit because I haven't ridden her in a week. So I was taking the bot knife and wacking some fly eggs away when I spot a lump on the side of her leg! I looked at the other leg and it didn't have it and I felt it and it was warm, and my dad said it was a splint. I dont have any splint boots to ride in so I couldn't have prevented it!

Does anyone know how I can care for it?

*This is Aurora*

Is she lame? Normally, a horse will be lame if they pop a splint... Either way, I would cold hose/ice it for about 15 minutes 2-3 times a day, and put standing wraps on overnight to keep swelling down. It might not ever fully heal, though she should be sound on it after a week or two(if shes not sound now).

Yea.  Rascal popped one in February and the lump is permanantly there.  But anyway, I'd call the vet out and see if they have anything for you to put on it.  Our vet had us put DMSO on it twice a day and he was on stall rest for 2 weeks, then a week of walk/trot(still no turnout), then a week of walk/trot/canter(turnout again), then he could jump again.

But then we decided to have the tooth removed from his ear, so that increased his time off.(like 3 weeks stall rest, 2 weeks walk/trot only, no turnout until the drain and stitches were removed, a week walk/trot/canter, then jumping again)

Jackson has popped a splint in both a front leg and hind.  He was sound on it all the time though.  Some horses will go lame for a little while, but some don't.  The bump will permanatly be there.

because these things will change
can you feel it now?
these walls that they put up to hold us back will fall down
this revolution, the time will come
for us to finally win
