| So I used to be able to lunge the pony I lease perfectly, he would listen to everything. Now he just follows me in circles and I can’t get him to do anything. I have tried using the whip and it does not help, he just comes closer. I do start from behind his shoulder and throw the lunge line at his butt and move his head away, this does not work anymore. Then I wave it in his face. I need some advice because I need to lunge him before I ride for like 10 minutes, just to take out some energy.

| My horse did that too... I just held the whip by his shoulder and he stayed in a circle.
Have you tried anything like that?

| He's just being disrespectful. Hold the lungeline out in the direction you want him to go, and cluck. If he doesn't go off, push the whip at his shoulder, and smack him with it if necessary. He needs to learn to listen to you better, so be firm and don't feel bad for him if he looks scared or anything.

| The horse I rid does this two. Grab the reins push him around and MAKE HIM GO. If you must tap him on the side with the whip. Until you want to make him stop he has to keep going. You might want to get someone to walk with him and keeping him on the track till he stops doing it. Oh and when you get him going stay behind his hip or he'll turn in again. Hope this helps!

This is probably because whenever you went to his side you'd just send him out in a circle, which he doesn't want to do. So maybe if you went to his side some times and didn't do what he's expecting (reverse phsycology) and just rub him a little bit. Then he wouldn't connect you going to his side with a bad thing all the time.

| If he does this, give a light wack on the butt with the whip, which will tell him you want him to go forward.
