Welcome to Rendezvous Ranch, home of Rendezvous Performance Horses, owned by the Dare family, a line of billionaires, and run by head trainer Nova Fray. Here, Nova oversees the buying, training, and reselling of dozens of horses for almost any discipline.

Name - Briar Edelwood
Background - Her mom was a trainer at a sport horse breeding farm and lived in an apartment over the stable. When Briar was born, she started riding right away, starting on any ponies that passed through. She started showing when she was 3 in flat classes, and jumping around her fourth birthday, starting with ground poles and cross-rails, moving up to 3’ fences by the time she was six. She went to Pony Finals from the time she was four until the season of her twelfth birthday, winning both hunter and jumper divisions every year. After she turned thirteen, she decided she'd outgrown ponies (despite being 4’11”) and she started riding, training, and competing on the horses bred and raised on her mom’s breeding farm. Around this time, she became interested in all sorts of riding - barrel racing, polo, endurance, all sorts - so she spent the years between her fourteenth birthday and now traveling the world, training and riding everywhere she went. She's only 5’1” now, and she's big into parkour/free running and CrossFit, with a bit of rock climbing when she has time.

Name - Honor Newell
Background - She was born to eventing parents, and was riding before she could talk. Though her ultimate goal is to be a 4* eventer, she’s broadened her horizons, for now, to project horses for eventing, show jumping, hunters, and dressage. She’s got her horse competing Intermediate right now, but she’s not even close to finished with him. She’s also a runner and likes food a lot.

Briar pulled into Rendezvous Ranch at eleven-fifteen, plenty of time for her to get Remi settled in before she was scheduled to meet the head trainer and the other young trainer at noon - she figured it'd be best to arrive early and get her tack put away and Remi settled in beforehand. Easing her ruby-red ‘16 Chevy Silverado 3500 crew cab and 40’ 3-horse rig down the driveway, she parked in front of the barn and hopped out of her truck to find someone to direct her to Remi's stall and the tack room. A groom was kind enough to assist with both, so Briar returned to her trailer, lowered the ramp, and released Remi into the daylight. The lovely red roan was packed for shipping in a Back on Track sheet with matching boots on all four legs and a hella halter with a blue and pink candy-striped lead, so Briar grabbed the rope and led Remi into her already bedded stall before stripping off her shipping gear and taking it back to the trailer, returning to the barn with an armful of tack.

Honor pulled in only about ten minutes after, and after maneuvering her steel grey truck and 3 horse slant load with living quarters & tack room (quite useful, she had found, when hauling to far off events) around to a clear spot near the barn. After peeking in to ensure Sam was in one piece and relatively happy, she ventured into the barn to find directions, which she readily received. She rapidly returned to Sam and swung the doors open, fastening them back before hopping up on top of a wheel to swap the trailer tie for an emerald green leadrope. She then hurried back around and swing back the divider, stepping back as Sam made his graceful descent. She snatched the cotton lead rope as his head passed her and followed him out until they were both standing on the concrete, Sam dressed in emerald standing wraps, an emerald sheet with silver stitching, and a padded chocolate leather halter. Honor led him towards the barn and relocated his stall, stripping off his sheet only, leaving the wraps, and folding it and setting it with his halter neatly in front of the door. Checking the time, she noted with pleasure that she still had nearly twenty minutes to spare, and so began unloading tack.

Briar put away the armload she'd carried in, a few bridles and pads, a set of boots, then returned to her trailer for the next load, this one taking up a whole tack caddy. She put away three of her saddles, a Double J, a Corriente, and a Tad Coffin, each in a matching charcoal gray carrying case with pink and blue piping and blue monograms embroidered BRE, and a dozen more bridles, a few more pads, and a few sets of wraps and boots before making another trip to her trailer. It took four more trips to transfer the rest of her favored tack into the barn, leaving more tack yet in her impeccably organized trailer.

Honor followed suit, hanging up the load of bridles, breastplates, martingales, etc., only a fraction of her collection, that she had carried in. Next she found homes for a few pads and boots, tucking them away in the plastic laundry baskets she had them stored in. She continued bringing her most used tack, a few saddles, various bits and such, until she was satisfied that had everything she needed immediately, but she still had a good deal left in her fairly well organized trailer.

Briar leaned against a wall once she'd finished and checked her phone, favoring her right leg a bit. According to her iPhone 6s+, it was 11:58, almost time for the meeting, which, according to her email, was to take place in the tack room. Tucking her phone back into her breeches, Briar crossed her arms and watched the other girl unload her gear while she waited for Nova to make her entrance.

Honor finished adjusting the way her final bridle was wrapped just a minute later, perfectly timed in her opinion. She paused standing oddly centered, facing somewhere in between the other girl and the door and waited.

Nova arrived shortly after, bustling into the tack room with an armful of gear. She spoke while shoving everything into its proper place. “Welcome ladies, I'm Nova Fray, head trainer here at Rendezvous Ranch. You've both brought your own horse, I assume, well, you're going to be assigned another four to work with every day, and remember, as long as you're here, the resale horses come first - if you start late and only have time to ride four horses, guess which horse isn't getting ridden that day? Yours. That having been said, welcome to Rendezvous Ranch, I'll introduce you to your horses in a moment, you have a lesson with me on the horse of your choosing every morning at eight, alternating flat work and over fences by day, and trainers’ quarters are behind the barn. Any questions?”
