It's a scoring system some rodeos/associations (such as NBHA) uses. Their sort of like divisions, but you aren't entered into them until after you run. It 's like
Everyone enters - maybe they enter in Youth or Open, same difference - and they run. Everyone is still in the same category, but their runs have been split up to win. For example, Betsy ran a 17.302 and wins the 1D - the fastest class, and everyone who ran a 17 second run is entered into the 1D. Joan ran an 18.225 and won the 2D because she had the fastest 18 time after the 17 second split. It splits again at 19 for 3D and 20 for 4D, and the top two or three in each D-ivision wins a check.
