In an attepmt to prevent further fighting while he went to get an "escort" Hank was thrown in Jacobs cell. The deuputy then left to find the other deuputy on duty, since he didn't want to take Hank and Gunner out together alone. "Two of the guys know where a stolen racehorse is hidden." he went on, "I need you to come with me while they show us where it's hidden.

Gunner sat up slowly, his rib and head were killing him. How am I going to get on a horse, much less ride? he thought

Hank was beginning to get worried about Gunner, how on earth was he going to ride?
Apparently they lucked out. ''Hey what do you say about making these two walk?" The deuputy asked his partner, "It would make it harder for them to pull something.''

Gunner was relieved, but concerned about his horse. He didn't want to leave him, but he knew he had to.
