I think they are big and beautiful, but I personally wouldn't want to own one. I rode one years ago as a saddleseat horse, and my goodness that was one huge trot. It was fun but I wouldn't want to deal with such a powerful horse all the time.

The first Friesian I saw was a dressage horse at the barn where my aunt kept her horse. His mane was braided and reached his knees, he was gorgeous. But the woman riding him sternly told us 'this is a man's horse'. Which I'm sure some of them are, and some of them aren't, but I believe it.

That's cool! I have never ridden one before but I would like too. I was looking into buying a show horse last year, and since I only do Dressage, everyone was telling me to get a Friesian horse. I think its a little annoying how people assume if you do dressage you need that breed of horse.

Uhmm they are truely beautiful at a distance but on their backs or behind them on a buggy is a different story they have goergous gaits and everything but to be honest they are honestly over grown shetland ponies and they know they are bigger and they know everyone thinks their beautiful and so they just basically walk all over you. This is my past exerience with 12 friesians. We currently have a yearling coming two being trained on the ground right now and he is an exception to what I said up there, except he did squish me in the fence with his butt. And we weaned the baby yesterday and he is a handful but some groundwork will change that. the 2 that I am getting payed to ride are awful, one has conformation issues and the other is the star friesian(your ideal grand champion friesian) nad they will take the bit and brace against it and run away for no reason at all and flexing them is out of the question because they are so stiff. I'm sure there is wayy better trained friesians than what i have come across. So I honestly don't like the friesian breed although they take wonderful pictures you can't even imagine how they act.

Actually the baby that we just weaned's mother picked up my trainer by her shoulder and ran her over and you could see each little tooth print in her shoulder soo that is another reason I don't like friesians but there is some nice ones I promise lol I have come across 4 out of the 12 haha.

heres some videos and pics
this is just the friesians at the dairy and the first 2 are the ones I ride

this is one of the fillies that hasn't been weaned and she is truely gorgeous and a wonderful prospect

They're very nice horses, and I think they're beautiful but I wouldn't exactly want to own one. I heard that they're the most expensive horse on a couple websites, but I don't know. I've never met one face to face, I've only seen them in pics.

I like them but I don't really have a large interest in owning them.

They are beautiful but I do Hunter/Jumper and I don't think a Friesian would be the right breed for that.

Ehh, they're okay.  I would never want to own one though.  I'm not big on romantic breeds like Friesians and Gypsy Vanners.

There is actually a white Friesian. Years ago, someone got permission to introduce new blood into the breed, and they used a gray Arabian of some sort. Why they didn't use a black horse, I don't know. And of course he is not legally a Friesian, as they have to be black to be registered. But here are pictures of him and his story:
