I know it sounds dumb, but I'm a worrywort and I want to know whether or not horses can eat peppermints? Will they choke on them or will they be fine?   /worrywort

Don't give them long, thing peppermints or candy canes, but the normal, hard candy, round peppermints they can. They're every horse that I've ever mets favorite treat.

Peppermints are fine for horses. They are Wizards favorite treat! Most horses really like them.

Unless it's Cowboy, because he hates them.
Nope you're all good, horsies (cept for Cow xD) love peppermints! Like someone said, just make sure they're the round kind, not candy canes/sticks, etc.

Sampson refuses to eat them, but he's weird. Most horses adore them :)

Yes.
You can give them candy canes too, you just have to break them up.

I'll give my horse the cookie with the peppermint in them and he will eat the cookie, drop the peppermint, then, like 5 minutes later he will come and eat it! weird:D

If they werent fine my horse would be long dead.

-----------

the night hath been to me a more familiar face than that of man; and in her starry shade of dim and solitary loveliness i learned the language of another world.
the sun shining down on these green fields of France, the warm wind blows gently and the red poppies dance
the trenches have vanished long under the plow, no gas, no barbed wire, no guns firing now
but here in this graveyard that's still no mans land, the countless white crosses in mute witness stand
to man's blind indifference to his fellow man, and a whole generation were butchered and damned
.holding my rebel banner up with pride.

They're fine, but if you're at a competition that tests for drugs (like FEI competitions) watch out, because if you feed a horse peppermints, the drug test can show up as positive.

thanks jordyn for the banner

Yeah, I give my horses the little round ones, like the kind you get at restaraunts.  It actually makes their breath smell kinda good!

Haha, when I saw this title on the homepage, I thought it said 'Can horses eat people.'  LOL it's wayyyyy too early for me.

Prancer would be too. If she even smells peppermint she is like "Yay! Now give."
