As most of you probably know by now, I fell off yesterday and my trainer is concerned that I might've fallen on my head since my helmet was pretty dirty and I hit the ground pretty hard.

Instead of replacing my IRH, I'm thinking of getting a Charles Owen as I've heard lots of good things about them. What are your opinions on the JR8? Please don't tell me to get the GR8, that is well out of my price range right now. I just want the good and bad of the JR8 only.

If you would like to recommend any other helmets as well, please feel free to post a link to it, and a review would be nice as well. Thanks guys :]

Some people say you should replace your helmet every time in makes impact with dirt by falling off, but I don't believe that at all. Granted, mine's probably through as I've had it for over two years and I've fallen off with it over twenty times, and dropped it, but if this is only your first, you should be fine.

Anyways, CO JR8. I have one. It's nice for the looks, CO is great for the hunter/jumper show ring. It's the junior version of the GR8. It doesn't have any vents and can make your head really hot, on the inside of mine, the front half is dark and stained with sweat. (Gross, I know.) I've got a bigger head and thick hair, and the GR8 fits me a lot better because it goes down farther, but I don't have one. It's kind of hard to put my hair in, but it still looks fine at shows. I definitely recommend it if you're looking for one of the cheaper show helmets.

I have one....I really like it. I haven't ridden with it in the summer, so I am not sure if my head will get hot in it or not. It hasn't so far. It looks professional and is very comfortable. I really like the way it fits my head and the way it feels. I say, good helmet.

I do remember smacking my head on the ground, and I fell pretty hard. Plus the outer "shell" looks ever-so-slightly deformed, and when I picked it up and looked for the model number I heard a little crack. So I have a feeling it's through.

Thanks for the help guys. If I did get a JR8, should I get black/black or black/charcoal?
