Yes, it is true.  They've decided to race her again this season and run her against Rachel Alexandra.

Now, just throwing this out there, but both Zenyatta and Rachel ran on Saturday.  Zenyatta won, remaining undefeated, and Rachel Alexandra got beat by Zardana, a stablemate of Zenyatta.  So now that Rachel Alexandra got beaten, they've decided that they're not going to run her against Zen in the Apple Blossom in April since she's "not ready".

Thanks Bree (Babidollroxs591) for the banner!

IMO, Zenyatta's owners are going to get burned at one point or another, and it'll most likely be with the mare getting an injury. Just retire her already.

-bye.

I feel exactly the same way you do.  I was really happy to know that they were going to retire her, and I pretty much screamed my head off at the TV when I watched the Eclipse awards and saw that they weren't going to retire her after all.

Zenyatta is incredible.  She's 6 years old now, undefeated in all her races, won the Breeder's Cup Classic last year, 2 time Eclipse Award winner, the list goes on.  Google her, she's amazing.

The only horse that was even in the same league as her was Rachel anyway, and now that Rachel was beat its just pointless to keep Zenyatta racing. I know she loves being on the track, but if something happens to her they're going to regret it. I do have mixed emotions about it though.

Exactly.

Truthfully, though she likes it, I think it would be best to retire her.  All I can see is Ruffian when I think of her running again.

It's not as though she'll never be out of her stall again - she can still go up to a track, if the owner has one at the stable she's at, and run. I, personally, don't believe a racehorse could like their lifestyle.
