I haven't really posted anything about myself yet, so here is one of my more recent lessons. This is just a small part of the lesson, but I got to rack! This is only my second time on that horse and my second time racking. Please don't critique this, seeing as my trainer is paid to do that. I love Phats; he's an awesome horse and we get along great. He has a freakin' ENGINE on him! So much fun! 8D I normally ride at another barn, but I've been piling on extra lessons to prepare for 4-H.

Does anybody else ride gaited horses? Saddleseat?

That's the bull pen. There's one at my other barn too. The sides slide out and close off that side of the arena. Makes it like a little circle. Sometimes they put beginner riders in there because they can't go around the arena yet. Sometimes they let a horse loose in it for exercise. It has many different purposes. :P

I'm very jealous. I've racked once on accident on one of our show horses.

The white thing that looks like a round pen, or the other stuff? I've never seen something like that before xD. It looks neat. Whats the non roundpen looking thing?

YAY! Another gaited person! We're slowly expanding our empire. Hi, I'm Alex, and I own a Tennesee Walker. We show Saddleseat, Gaited Pleasure, all that jazz. Phats is gorgeous; why is his tail so short?

Thats really cool. :)
Why are there chairs, hay and something that resembles a tack room or something of the sorts in the middle of your arena? Just wondering.

I have never racked before but it looks like tons of fun.

The white boards are the bull pen. The things in the middle are stalls. The arena is built so the stalls are in the middle and at the other end, and you ride around it all. My other barn has an open arena with a smaller bull pen. It's a lot colder over there though. This barn is heated, although if your foot hits the wall it's really noisy and little kids ride there a lot, so the horses bump longer legs into the wall. :P The chairs are just there for parents to watch and there's a temporary stall up next to them for a broodmare and her new colt. :)

The mulch on the ground is nice because your pants/boots don't get as dirty. It makes for easier hoof picking as well.

Phats is old. He just turned 20, but he acts like he's never been younger! I don't know why they cut his tail so short. Probably just because it's easier to care for and the hair sells for a LOT of money. If he isn't being shown professionally he doesn't need a long messy tail anyways. He knows what he's doing by now so all I really have to do is keep him slow and steady. I think I'm showing him in WTC Saturday! I'm really excited! Sorry this post is so long. lol

Theorem:
I love Walkers! :D The first horse I rode outside of pony rides was a big black TW gelding named Walker. We went on a trail ride (English style) and he didn't even use a bit.

That looks like a lot of fun! There is a fat old Tennesse Walker at my barn, but she doesn't have very good gaits. She's a trail horse. She does pace though, and it's fun to rider her when she does that!

I must say, that has to be the oddest barn and arena set up I have ever heard of. Stalls in the middle....very interesting. I think it would get in the way!

Yay, a saddleseat rider! I'm Sarah, and the Saddlebred in my siggy below is my five-gaited gelding Happy.

I'm at school right now, and the internet won't let me see the video, but I'll check it out when I get home. :]
