This goes for new members, old members, and anyone inbetween. ;]
Part I:
General Behavior
•If you cannot seem to find anything nice or constructive to say, search your heart.
•If you still cannot find anything? Do not post. Simple.
•As a general rule, if it is not something you would say in real life, we don't want it here either.
•If you do not know what you are talking about for a particular situation, do not post.
•Be kind, mature, and realistic.
•Treat others how you want to be treated. :]
•Please do not think you are all high and mighty. Take it upon yourself to have some sliver of modesty.
•Use spell check. I don't think anyone will get on your case for spelling one thing wrong once in a while. However, it becomes a major problem when what you write isn't legible or understandable.
•Keep txt talk to a minimum.
•Do NOT bump up old threads. It is 20+ pages back for a reason.
•Try not to post threads that are not needed. If you want to tell someone about your date last night, post in the Daily Chat. ;] No need to make a whole new topic.
•Post in the correct forum.
•Keep signatures at a decent length. No one wants their screen stretched out too 100 miles wide, and no one wants to wait 10 years for the page to load, or wants to scroll down 200 miles because your siggy is so long.
•Resize pictures-again, no one wants to wait 10 years for the page to load. Also, it can crash alot of computers.
•Don't lie. Please.
•Correct forms of your vs. you're, hear vs. here, their vs. there, ect.
•Do not make fun of or bash other people's ideas, beliefs, or ideals.

Part II:
Critique Me
•Post pictures that are critiqueable.
•When you post, there is an imaginary contract that says that you will take all feedback tastefully and with a grain of salt.
•When you critique someone, you realize that no one likes to hear "you suck. heels down, eyes up, strighten up, stop gripping with your knee."
•There is a little thing called constructive feedback. Can't give it? Don't post. Can't take it? Don't post.
•Generally, people like to hear some positive encouragement or praise along with things you need to improve.
•When you post a horse critique, understand that your own riding skills are a huge part in the critiquing process.
•Do not fill your posts with excuses. No one wants to hear them.

Part III:
Role Play Games
•In most RPs, romance and drama are strongly welcomed. Try to keep it PG unless otherwise specified.
•Use spell check
•Be realistic
•Read the rules (if applicable) before joining.
•In the same way, if it says ask before joining, ask.
•Don't get upset if you are not allowed to join. Simply make your own or join another one. No sweat.
•If you have no experience with a certain type of RP, try asking the original poster to give you some background info.
•Post detailed posts with "blood and flesh" so to speak.
•Have fun with it.

The Golden Rule(s) of YR:
•Use common sense!

If anyone has anything else to add, please let me know. I am sure I forgot something. :P
Tips for New Members

PRB'S TIPS FOR NEWBIES!

Here are some tips if you're new on these boards. Follow them, and you're sure to fit right in.

PART ONE: POSTING TIPS

1. Please don't type "lyk dis kk!!!!" because it really does get annoying. If you can't spell, you're obviously too young to use a computer.

2. Five exclamation points are not neccasary on the end of every sentance. Please remember that.

3. DON'T TYPE IN ALL CAPS ALL THE TIME! <- It sounds like your yelling and distracts us from your post.

4. Keep the text abbreviations (ex. lol, omg) on the down low. It's annoying when your post looks like this: "FYI OMG your horse is lol lol lol lol funnayyyyyyyyyy looking! OMG WTH is on his head? ROFL ROFL LMAO!!!"

5. Don't use the non-text smileys. ( ex. ) Nobody likes them. XD

6. Don't swear so much, as there are younger members on here who may be offended.

7. Don't fight. Just don't.

PART TWO: THE BOARDS AND STUFF

1. Pease post all topics on the appropriate boards. A topic called "How do I fit a Saddle?" does not belong in "Critique Me, Please."

2. Don't bring up old topics, please. They're old news.

PART THREE: CRITIQUE ME, PLEASE!

1. You post it, you ask for it. Don't flip out on members who give you a completly polite critique.

2. " I hate it, you are a terrible rider, and your horse is a fat cow" isn't a critique. Instead, kindly let the member know what they could improve on and how they could do it.

3. Only post banner ctiques once in a while. They clog up the horsey part.

PART FOUR: BANNERS, SIGGIES, AND AVVIES

1. Please keep your signature short. Long ones often slow down computers and keep members from enjoying YR.

2. Don't post siggy shops a ton. They clog the boards. Instead, post in the latest siggy mall. Don't see one? Make one yourself.

3. Don't be offended if you use mybannermaker.com and picnik and blingee and glittershack and nobody wants your banners. They aren't very good, honestly. If you are that interested in making banners, you should invest in a program such as Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, Paint Shop Pro, etc.

4. You should use only ONE banner per signature. I'm sure the banner makers wouldn't mind very much if you didn't use their's right away.

PART FIVE: GENERAL

1. Don't lie. We are magical and can tell your lying, and will get mad at you.

2. Don't post pictures, banners, etc that aren't yours and claim them as your own.

3. Be nice. Treat othersd the way you'd like to be treated.

And that concludes the tips!

Bubbles Tips For New Members

Okay so I may be new but I was on here before and my sub ran out. Okay so number one.

1. The little blue boxes mean NOTHING whatsoever. They just show how many topics you have posted. So just if someone has more boxes they are NOT more important.

2. You have all heard this before but dn't typ lyk dis cuz it iz realy hard 2 understnd. If you want to use text talk use it like this. Hey guyz waz up? i was so bored yesterday. wat r u doing 2marrow? See, isn't that easier to understand?

3. If you can't spell correctly either get a dictoinary or go back to kindergarten. No one likes it when you can even spell horse the right way.

4. If you are going to be an immature jerk get off! If you go around picking fights the mods will find you and ban you like they did to buffy. Not good!

5. Do Not Lie we will find you and kill you. Everyone on here hates it when you lie. If you make a small lie and them come clean great but don't go saying that you won the kentucky derby and stuff like that.

rules and guidelines for new members

ok, so if your a new member, i want to say hi, and welcome to young rider! it's a really great place to talk about all things horse! but there's a few rules and guidelines you need to follow to have as much fun as possible!

1. please don't post the same topic over and over, the more advanced members get annoyed, and thats not a really good way to start out!

2. try your very best to use no text talk, so i'll give some examples of what's accepted, and of whats not, so here's how not to talk: ya peples, yng rdr rles. ya, hard to understand, here's whant accepted, thanx 4 being a great friend, u rock! see, much easier to read!

3. try your very best to place a topic in the right forum! so if you have a question about your saddle, bit, bridle, grooming supplies, or something in that general area, that would go in health, grooming, and tack!

if you want to play the games, where you can be a horse, rider, or another character, then you should check out role play games!

if you have a question about riding styles besides english and western, then you need to check out other riding styles, it's the best place to have a riding style chat!

if you want to post a picture of your self, and have other members critique you, then post in critique me please, on this board, you can only post pictures of yourself, and your horse, or a lesson horse, NEVER post a picture of another member or another members horse, without their permission. and only critique another member if you know what your talking about!

if you have a question about training, or horse problems , then post in horse problems/training questions.

now, there are some abrieviations that new members should learn the meanings, (sp) means the member isn't sure how to spell that corretly. lol, means laugh out loud, omg, means oh my gosh, and lmao, means laught my *badword* off, and please remember to never use the Wf*bad* it's not nessesary to use!

tpbr, means the person below me, and you'd guess something about the person that will post below you.

currently we are cleaning up the boards, so that means that members are asked to not post personal siggy shops, but we are however posting siggy malls, and please don't post a siggy mall, a more advanced member will do it at the right time. if you want a siggy, but arent sure how to get one, then look for members that their siggy's say pm me for a banner, or simply go to a banner shop, and fill out a form!

please try your best to keep things horsey, stay away from fights, personal siggy shops, and non horse related topics. please remember if you have to re add a few topics, or advanced members tell you to post in a different forum, it's ok! you'll get the hang of things! so have fun, and help us keep young rider a safe, fun, horsey, and growing comunity! see you soon!

Please be aware that your IP address is documented

All

This Privacy Notice complies with COPPA rules

<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPaddi
