Hi. I'll ask my boyfriend how 2 make some. He made some for his horse and they work just fine cuz he does the team roping. but he just took an old lead rope that was longer and smaller around and put another metal clip on the other end somehow. Hope this helps.

well whatever. i would personally NEVER do it. wow, thats some game horse...mine loves to run so much she'd probably run for hours without stopping...yesterday i opened her up on the road and it took the distance between 4 telephone poles just to get her stopped from a flat out gallop. evidently your horse isn't the typical gamer....

then you need more control over your horse.

i can slide stop my horse well. i taught her to do it, its not like i got her proffesionly trained.

what's the harm in making her own? i think that it would be pretty easy to tell if they were unsafe or not...

ok 1. i've only had her for 3 months. 2. i have control over her, but she loves to run. 3. no game horses around here are trained to stop like that 4. i'll make my own decisions, and if i want her to stop like that, i'll train her, but i see no need right now for it... 5. i already said go ahead and make them just know your putting yourself in danger. geez you guys are gonna start a fight now, after our's is over. so everyone JUST DROP IT, the fight's over. jeez

I hate to get involved, but this is probably the stupidest fight I have ever seen on YR.
She can make her own barrel reins if she wants to, obviously she's not open to people telling her it's unsafe, so it's useless to try.

This fight is really annoying me because it's so incredibly STUPID. myredroan17, if you aren't open to different opinions don't post here. YR is a pretty diverse place. Saddle_Up, she's obviously not budging, so just drop it. You guys are getting totally off topic and just yelling at each other now.

ok,so heres what i think.when u find something about how 2 make them, MAKE THEM! trying it wont hurt!(i mite like 2 try it 2...lol)And about the whole safety part,after u make them,use them while u practice in a pasture and have a long set of reins also hooked 2 the bridle and u can just use a hair clip 2 clip them 2 ur horses mane.So if the reins u made snap for a weird reason,u can grab the others.

yea i know it takes time, you don't have to tell me that, i got my gamer in april, she had been sitting in the pasture for 4 years. but i guess we were a perfect match because for instance last weekend there were 27 kids in my division in barrels, and i got 4th. btw you don't have to be so rude...well duuuuhhhhh! i'm not an idiot. and have alot of experience and i'm not just gonna go and make my own reins that will eventually break...probably when i'm running. i dont wanna hear you talking back to me if you are gonna make your own reins, make them, just know your putting yourself in danger.

well i know they have to be able to stop fast, i have a game horse but i'm saying i need to use rein, and like in keyhole, that take alot of patterning to get them to turn, try doing that with a green horse. Elle gets going so fast on the run "home" from a run that i have to circle her to get her to stop, and so does everyone else around here. she isn't a high strung horse it's just she goes so effin fast she can't stop her self *snapsfingers* like that. i still think its dangerous, but you do what you want

well my horse is because gamers are supposed to stop fast. how else would you do key? they have to be able to stop and turn fast. and every gamer around here can stop even better. yes they want to run but u have to make them have some sort of self control. my horse doesnt stop rearing before we take off once we get in the arena.

yea, if they're made correctly, but what if you don't make them correctly? you'd be putting your self in aTON of danger....especially on a game horse

I don't get why you guys are saying it's not safe. Even the ones we buy out of catalogs can brake.
