Has anyone used them. I have never used a training vidio, because I dont really like them but I was not shure about hers because I really like her training methods. Are they any good?

What was your stupidest or funniest fall?

My stupidest was when I was riding with my friend and I was trotting Dallas to this green and yellow box jump thingy that I knew he doesn't like, but he would jump it and he'd been good so far that day and he'd been perfectly fine about jumping it lately. So, anyways, I'm pretty relaxed going to it, and kind of just sitting there. And then he's like 5 strides away and I'm like "good, he's gonna jump it" because he wasn't spooking at it or anything. Then of course he just like jumps 10 feet to the side and spooks at the jump. I was totally unprepared so I just went off in the opposite direction XD Not hurt, barely remember even hitting the ground lol. I got back on, let him sniff it, and he was a perfect angel. Sorry that was so long XD

Bareback Riding

I have recently been trying bareback riding. I am fine walking, but if you asked me to trot - well that is another story. I stink at it. I was wondering if you could give me any advice on that.

There was one time though when the gate was open and my horse took off at a canter, and amazingly I stayed on, but if you do have any advice I am willing to take it!

Swimming with your horse

I was just wondering if any of you like to swim with your horse... coke wont even walk through a puddle... if you have any pics of u and your horse swimming, post them i would at least like to see someone else having fun on THEIR horse. (lol)

the first horse i rode was a sweet horse named Doc. he was the first timer for many people at my barn. he is a chesnut quarter horse mix. about 15hh and a great personality.he always will have a special place in my heart even when i get my own horse i will always love a sweet, gentle, beautiful quarter horse named Doc.

Teaching your horse to go bareback?

My horse has never been ridden bareback before. I have lots of experience doing it on other horses. I want to start riding my horse bareback, but I just need to know if there is anything I should do to get my horse ready. He is calm, and always listens to my signals. I always ride him in an english saddle. Thanks!

Parelli Hate

I just wanted to know why you guys hate parelli. I DO NOT want this to get into a big fight, I would just like to see the pros/cons from other YR people. I, personally, think that its okay, but the cost for everything is stupid. No, I'm not going to pay $100+ for a halter, lead, and lunge line. Please, just post why you dislike parelli.

So i was riding in the arena while my old trainer was giving a lesson, and she was teaching a girl who was just doing western how to ride english. So she was saying how it was really hard, which got me thinking, which is harder to go from, english to western or western to english?

(I didn't know where to put this post, so i put it in other riding styles.)

polo and polocross

just wondering if anyone here does polo or polocross, i don't, but a lot of people at my barn so polocross, and they can like bounce the ball and catch it over jumps, they're really good... sadly i dont think i'm coordinated enough to control a horse, jump, and try to keep my eye on a ball, while holding a stick ;)... so yeah... just wondering, it looks pretty fun.

What do you think about therapeutic riding? My mom had major brain surgery. And she keeps reading about therapeutic riding and how it helps a lot of people, and shes wondering if it will help her out. She hasn't rode in years, so this is a BIG step lol. What do you think?

Arabian Halter/Showmanship Attire?

I'm just curious as to what you wear for Arabian halter and showmanship. When I showed minis, most people wore western type attire. And of course for western type at halter you wear western attire and english type at halter you wear your english attire, but when it's just Arabian halter, what do you wear?

I know about Parelli and how expensive everything is. But I also don't really like how his method is based. I am reading a book by Klaus Ferdinand Hempfling (google him) and I really like it. His program is based on a dominance-trust relationship with your horse as a heard leader would have. Its about using the most subtle aids to communicate with your horse. You never punish them. He wants you to teach your horse to naturally work off its hindquarters. (sorry for the sales pitch)

But the problem is, the book is very confusing, and the first things I tried with Maverick failed epically.

Does anyone else know about him or use his method? Does it work? Or what do you use for NH? How is it based?

Bareback Help

I just rode Bareback for the first time a few days ago. The horse I ride has a really bony back. I want to ride bareback again, but I don't know how often I would ride bareback. Should a buy a bareback pad? They are kind of expensive aren't they? If I shouldn't, does anyone have any alternatives to a bareback pad? One of the girls at my barn rides with a saddle pad, but she only walks when she does that - I will probably be trotting and maybe cantering.

If you think I should get a bareback pad, could you post links of cheap ones? I'd like it to have a grab strap (Do they all come with those?), but color really doesn't matter.

Ok, so i've been thinking about trying out some NH stuff on Unique. Are there any techniques, methods or programs that have helped you and your horse become closer? I want to develop a strong trust beetween us, etc. I've looked into Parelli, and i'm not diggin him, I don't really like the idea of his "7 games," plus he's too expensive.Thanks!

I looooove parelli, but I have a question I dearly wish parelli could answer personally. See, I know that looking at a horse's hindquarters (sp?) draws them in, but what about the "hide your hiney" game? Pat said something like "drawing them in is like saying they're like, done, but not really (something like that lol) so wouldn't you jst be confusing your horse?

I might jst b confusing myself because my horse is great at all the games and drawing in, so if you want to take the time (lol I sound mean or something) that would be great!!
