So...I figured I'd post a quick update on Sheik [i'm sick and bored. xD]. For my bday/cmas present he is going to Pam's for his thirty days of training. he's going in around December. I'm esastic, I can't wait to be riding him. I haven't showed him since May, but I might show him this weekend. He's grown a TON in the last month or so. He's a big gorgeous boy. =] These pics are from a couple of weeks ago.

And for Brandy. Well, my lease is up for the year, and her owners [not Pam, her step father in law, I think] decided not to renew it. So she's going back to Pam's at the end of the month. I'm still allowed to go over and ride her as often as I would like, and she's going to bring her to shows and stuff for me, but I'm really gonna miss her.
The last two weekends [and I'm planning on taking her for the rest of October as well.] I have taken her to playdays. We've both been having a blast at them.

This is Obie :). These were taken in his stall at a show a few weeks ago. Poor guy was soo tired, he was at shows for four straight weeks with no home time in between, and these were taken towards the end of the fourth week.

Anyways, sorry if this is clogging the boards, I just thought these were cute and felt like posting anyways. I'm a MAJOR sucker for any pictures of them lying down xP.

Talked to another barn today and they won't take my horse. Because everyone is afraid of my little Rascal. This is the third barn(out of 4) that won't take him. They said they would try to work with him, but if he ever gets close to injuring someone they can't keep him. My gosh, everybody is afraid of my little pony. No kids ride there either(there's the little ones, like 5-6 and one 16 yr old). So we'll see what happens, I might go look at it Wednesday(hopefully) but idk.

On the bright side, Rascal was pretty good to ride, he only stopped twice. Got a pretty good gallop out of him too, did some serpintines with flying changes, figure eights, etc. Acted pretty close to a normal trained horse. But my back hurt too much to really do much with him, so he had it easy today.

So, in honor of October starting in two days, I figured we should have a ghost/scary story writing competition. You have all of October to prepare your entry, the judging will take place on October 30th, and the results posted in the evening on October 31st. Please do not make your entries longer than 4 pages (NOT double-spaced) typed. Also, please keep them PG. There are two classes you can enter. One for a horsey scary story, and one for just a plain old scary story that is non-equine related. I will be judging based on creativity, overall quality, etc. Just one entry per class, please. Happy writing!

Also, just post your stories here, and if you have any questions, ask!

I know that there have been a lot of these, but I have an idea of what I'd like to do. Anyway, my barn is having a fun show and doing a costume class. I was originally going to do a jockey/racehorse thing, but I can't find tack for it for under $210. I wouldn't have a problem buying an exercise or race saddle if I was 100% sure on becoming a jockey, and right now I'm planning on it, but a lot can change in 2 and a half years(well, like 8 months really since me and my friend are starting jockey school next year if things go smoothly). So, then I was looking online and I can't find anything. So I was going to dress Rascal up as Grave Digger(it's a monster truck for those of you that don't know) and have me be the driver. However, I have no idea how to dress Rascal up as a monster truck. And thinking about it, I kinda want to dress him up as an alligator or crocodile and be the Crocodile Hunter. I remember back in the days before I could ride Steve was my idol and I dressed up like him for Halloween for like 4 years I think. I've moved on now.

So, ideas on how to dress Rascal up as Grave Digger or a crocodile/alligator would be much appreciated.

ok so yesterday I rode Rev. and he's just started getting supplements so he was feeling his oats. well I rode him bareback in a halter( I am SO riding with a bridle next time). he was trying to buck the whole time I rode him so I was REALLY trying to hold his head, but he snuck it down and bucked me off after a jump. and now I have the worst bruises and scratches I've ever had on me from falling of. so I think I can nominate that for the worst fall I've ever had on a horse. now I love my helmet more then ever. it probably saved me from a concosion yesterday. So anyways I was wondering what everybodies worst fall has ever been?

I have a lot to fill you guys in with. First of all, my barn is switching locations. My trainer got a job managing a farm 35 minutes away from my current barn. Everyone in that barn is leaving, so we have the place to ourselves. I will have to pitch in on gas to get there, considering it's 45 minutes from my house. There are some advantages to this: we will be holding winter and summer show series and a few shows for our local show circuit. Plus we are close to a lot of the rated shows we go to.

Today I was at the barn painting our jumps so they are ready to move to the new barn with us. My friend, Steph, was riding her horse. She asked me to get on, and I said sure. I grabbed a helmet and jumped on. I'll tell you what, I haven't been on an ACTUAL horse for I don't know how long. I'm usually very nervous when I get on them. But today was different, I felt so safe and comfortable on him. It's like we clicked. I w/t/c and jumped him. Nothing phased me, he listened to me really well. It just felt awesome. Steph said we looked awesome together and that I should take lessons and show him. She went on a trail bareback, and I walked along with her. We took a trail that I've never been on before. I takes you away from the barn. Halfway through she was like "do you want to double?" I was like.... sureeee. Kind of shaky. I had left the helmet in the barn. (stupid I know, you can jump on my case if you want) I hoped on and was freaking out the whole time. But I must admit, it was reallyyyyyy fun. So next time I'll bring the helmet. XD. shhh! confidential stuff here.

Since you all know my trainer is looking for a lesson horse that's fairly young, and has the miles to do the rated circuit, we have been looking frequently. I got home today and my friend sent me an IM containing a video of a horse her friend is selling. I am in love with him. He is only 8, a quarter horse, a very fancy mover and has his changes. In addition to that he does eventing at 3'3 and gets good dressage scores. He qualified for states in 4H, winning everything at districts, competes in children's hunter (3') on the rated circuit. And has done clinics with nona garson, steven rivetts, lynn palm, and other top eventing/ hunter/ and jumper riders. Nona complimented on his lovely jumping style and said he would get noticed on the A-AA circuit. They need to get rid of him. He is priced at 30k. But the owners are willing to be negotiable since the market is horrible. They also want him to be in a loving home where he will be active in doing what he loves. (which he will) we want to try to bring it down to 15k if my trainer would be interested in.

so here's where it comes down to: should I take lessons and show chance? Should I show my trainer the horse that she's been looking for? or both?
