I always have a problem with my fleece clothes holding static and shocking me. When I was looking at blankets on various websites, I noticed that there were quite a few that are either lined with fleece or are fleece blankets. So do any of y'all that have fleece blankets-whether they are fleece lined or just fleece- do you have problems with static? Thanks for all the replies. And cookies to everyone. =D

Ohhh yes. In the winter it is so dry that when ever I take off my horse's blanket or cooler I get zapped and so does he. I feel bad for him, haha, but it's just the dry weather.

Okay, thanks! I probably won't be getting a fleece lined or fleece blanket then. What about the blankets that just have a small strip of fleece for wither protection? Would that be enough fleece to shock him? Thanks!

Yup.

But I'm always getting shocked from my fleece blankets.

I would say a definte NO to the fleece lined blankets...sounds like a diaster waiting to happen. But most blankets are nylon lined or with some other slick material so your horse (and you) won't get zapped very much. And blankets with the fleece on the withers are fine because this protects your horse's mane.

I'm pretty sure there enough static captured in most fleeces that you could pick up a good sized cat with it...
