| | My horse Maya is grass crazy. I mean really grass crazy. About four times now she has stuck her head through the round pen panels to get to the grass. She gets her head stuck and freaks out even though she eats grass for a bout five hours a day. We now have tied electric wiring between the top part but then she decide to stick her head thru the second one. Does any one have any suggestion on keeping her busy while im not home. Thanks Megan and Maya |

| Well first off, a horse shouldn't live in a place where it's surrounded by pannels. A head can get caught really bad in there. And most pasture horses should eat about 12-15 hours a day. Just use some safe fencing and you shouldn't have to worry about anything.

| | *This is Aurora* Horses are grazing animals, which means they should have either hay or grass to eat at least 8-10hrs a day, not 5. How often do you feed? You really shoud feed at least a flake of grass hay 3 times a day, 4 times is best to make sure they are happy. Try getting her a Jolly Ball or Likit to keep her occupied, and make sure she has grass hay as often as possible.

| | Yup, get some hay in there. She's hungry, obviously! Horses are meant to be eating for a good portion of the day. And unless the panels are big enough that she can get her head out no matter what, move her to a better place.

| | i dont think you should move her anywhere, her enviroment seems plenty safe to me. riding down my road, i see horses sticking their head thru saggy barbed wire, that's when you need to move the horse, if the barbed wire was tight, the horse wouldnt do that. but i think the only way to solve that problem, is use some more electric wire. i doubt a jolly ball would work. horses seem to choose food over everything.

Megan and Maya we weren't blaming you. we were only making a list of reasons as to why your horse might be grass crazy. ah, i see we can now cross "Lack of Food" off the list. there we go.
